Core Features and Mechanism of Action
Mechanism of Action
Ethoxazole inhibits chitin synthase activity, preventing embryo formation and molting of larvae, leading to premature development and death. Adult insects significantly reduce egg production and egg hatching rates after exposure, with a duration of effect up to 50 days. Damage ceases within 24 hours after feeding, with peak mortality reaching 3-5 days.
Broad Spectrum of Mites
It primarily controls mites such as citrus red spider mites, apple two-spotted spider mites, vegetable tea yellow mites, and cotton cinnabar spider mites. It also has excellent control effects against rust mites and yellow spider mites.
It is also effective against resistant mites (such as those resistant to abamectin and pyridaben).
High Selectivity
It has low toxicity to bees and natural predators (such as predatory mites), but is highly toxic to fish and daphnia. Avoid use in aquaculture areas.
Applicable Crops and Usage
Applicable Crops
It is widely used in crops such as citrus, apples, pears, grapes, cotton, vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, eggplants), and strawberries. Application Techniques
Spraying:
Citrus spider mites: Dilute 110 g/L suspension concentrate 3000-4000 times, focusing on the undersides of leaves and fruit hollows.
Apple two-spotted spider mites: Apply 25% abamectin/etoxazole suspension concentrate at a dilution of 10,000-12,000 times, once after flowering and once before bagging.
Vegetable tea yellow mites: Apply 20% chlorfenapyr/etoxazole suspension concentrate at a dilution of 2000 times, spraying in a targeted manner from the seedling stage to fruit set.
Combination Enhancement:
chlorfenapyr/etoxazole (45% suspension concentrate): Combines fast-acting and long-lasting control against citrus spider mites, maintaining over 90% efficacy 10 days after application.
etoxazole/difenuron (10% + 35%): Controls resistant spider mites. Dilute 5000-7500 times, resistant to rain washout. Key Application Tips
The optimal control period is from peak egg hatching to the larval stage. Avoid using the pesticide exclusively during an adult mite outbreak.
When spraying, ensure even coverage of both leaf surfaces. For fruit trees, spray thoroughly on the inner undersides of leaves.
Toxicity and Environmental Impacts
Low Toxicity and Safety: Acute oral LD₅₀ in rats > 5000 mg/kg, non-irritating to skin and eyes.
Ecological Risks: Highly toxic to fish (LC₅₀ 0.89 mg/L) and daphnia, low toxicity to birds and bees.
Environmental Behavior: Half-life in soil 11-52 days. Adsorbs readily to sediments, so avoid contaminating water sources.
